PIUTE, Calif. (KABC) - Wildlife trackers and game wardens are still searching for a California black bear that attacked a woman Tuesday as she walked her two dogs in Kern County. Officials say the bear suddenly attacked and mauled the woman. She suffered lacerations to her head and face.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County authorities said a woman walking her dogs was mauled by a bear. The attack happened about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the sparsely populated hills east of Bakersfield and between Tehachapi and Lake Isabella. County fire spokesman Sean Collins said the woman was attacked in the tiny rural community of Piute, near the site of a recent wildfire that burned across thousands of acres.
