WASHINGTON - Rep. Dennis Kucinich's quest to impeach President Bush will get an official airing in the House Judiciary Committee on Friday.
The fact that the hearing is taking place was almost as improbable as its intended outcome — the ouster of the president.
While the hearing isn't explicitly about impeachment, that doesn't mean a few House members can't talk openly about the possibility.

A boisterous crowd has already gathered for today's hearing in the House Judiciary Committee on the case for impeaching President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) has been leading the charge on the issue, and although House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) have said there will be no formal impeachment hearings, they've given Kucinich and his allies a session today to make the case.
er why the Democratic Congress approval rating is at 9% and falling? Meanwhile, gasoline prices have doubled since the Democrats took control of Congress. Perhaps they should put their time to better use, and impeach Reid and Pelosi for stupidity.

Thirty-four years ago this month, when the House Judiciary Committee was considering strategies for holding a lawbreaking president to account, the most determined advocate for impeachment on the committee was a relatively junior member, 45-year-old Michigan Congressman John Conyers.
On Friday, Conyers will again participate in a Judiciary Committee examination of how best to address excesses of the executive.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A House panel holds hearings today on alleged misconduct by the Bush White House.
The session was prompted by an article of impeachment introduced by Congressman Dennis Kucinich. But Democratic leaders are stressing the hearing is not about forcing Bush from office. Instead, it will be about what the House Judiciary Committee calls the imperial Bush presidency.

Don't look for Rep. Artur Davis to be among those advocating for the impeachment of President Bush Friday morning in a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee.
Davis, who has long said he has many disagreements with the Bush administration but none that rise to the level of impeachment, may not even attend the hearing, he said Thursday evening. He's got a Friday meeting with the board of The American Prospect, and said he didn't think the hearing was a good use of congressional time.
r. Davis really needs to have a look at these Federal Statutes he claims have not been violated.

Does anyone seriously doubt that one of the reasons why a House Judiciary Committee hearing will at least discuss the "I" word on Friday is Cindy Sheehan's independent challenge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi?
Pelosi, famously, took impeachment "off the table" just before the 2006 election.
ret of his desire to address the imperial reach of the Bush-Cheney presidency especially on matters of war and peace jumped at the chance to schedule the hearing. A two-hour session, at which the "i" word will be discussed openly by advocates such as Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich, is scheduled for Friday.
