The Yankees began with a positive start in their second half after sweeping the Oakland Athletics in three games at home to get to a season-best eight games over the .500 mark. moved Robinson up to batting fifth during Sunday's game against Oakland. With Damon and Matsui still out with injuries and Jorge Posada slumping, Cano has stepped up and continues to prove to be a dominant hitter in the Yankees' lineup.

The Twins have not fared well in the Bronx, dropping 22 of their last 30 at The Stadium. Play Sidney Ponson and the Yankees Monday when they host Minnesota. The Twins have greatly struggled against New York the past few seasons, and coming off a tough loss on Sunday pluc facing travel, this could be a tough opening game. 10 7 Top - 6th
