In a just-released decision the judge has moved the trial from August this year to February next year.
Bain was freed by a Privy Council decision last year after serving 13 years in jail for murdering his father, mother, brother and two sisters in 1994 in their family home in Dunedin.

The judge presiding over the David Bain retrial has delayed the case until next year.
In a reserved decision issued on Tuesday, Justice Panckhurst said the delay is for "fair trial" reasons - in particular to enable some scientific evidence to be finalised and made available for the defence team.
