Bain's retrial delayed

In a just-released decision the judge has moved the trial from August this year to February next year. Bain was freed by a Privy Council decision last year after serving 13 years in jail for murdering his father, mother, brother and two sisters in 1994 in their family home in Dunedin. t his defence team will be seeking adjournment

The judge presiding over the David Bain retrial has delayed the case until next year. In a reserved decision issued on Tuesday, Justice Panckhurst said the delay is for "fair trial" reasons - in particular to enable some scientific evidence to be finalised and made available for the defence team. ts & Downloads
